I have been looking for a SNP forum for a while - just about gave up.
You may not need this info. anymore, but maybe I can help somewhat. If you have kids: Big meadows is great - lots of easy trails inside & just outside of campground, latgest campstore and small diner typed place to eat, Big Meadows lodge has a nice resteraunt if you want a regular sitdown dinner (if you get tired of campfire dinners), also nightly ranger programs (interesting for all ages). Sites are roomy, most shaded and some are very private (if you don't like the site they give you, drive around & look for a better 1 - they will usually change it for you) They have great tent, trailer & RV sites. If we use a tent or trailer we love Big Meadows. Reservations are a good idea for weekends.
Otherwise, we rent a rustic cabin at Lewis Mountain. MUCH smaller than Big Meadows, and much more private. Camp store is small but they have what you will need. Also have nice size, somewhat private, trailer sites. Have been staying this is also a good place if you have kids, as its small and you can easily keep an eye on them. Pretty sure reservations are required for Lewis Mtn. (definitely cabins)
I haven't stayed in any other campground on Skyline but Matthew's Arm looks nice - sites are first come basis.
